Graduating Candidates

The name on a student’s diploma will appear as the full legal name that Texas State University currently has on file. If the name on the student’s record is incorrect, the student must follow the personal information update procedure to change it. Students can apply for graduation before submitting a name change request through Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Fall 2024 candidates wishing to change their name for the commencement program must submit their legal name change by Monday, November 11, 2024. To change the name that will be printed on the diploma, the deadline is Friday, January 3, 2025.
