Student-Athlete Academic Eligibility Requirements
Student-athlete academic eligibility for competition is tied to the number of semesters that the student-athlete is enrolled full-time. Each student-athlete's academic record is reviewed to make sure that the following requirements have been satisfied:
Entering Third Semester (2nd Year)
The student-athlete must:
- Be in good academic standing within the university
- Complete 6 hours (during previous semester)
- Complete 18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- Complete 24 hours (during previous year, summer school hours are allowed)
- Have a Texas State GPA of at least 1.80
Entering Fifth Semester (3rd Year)
The student-athlete must have declared a major and:
- Be in good academic standing within the university
- Complete 6 hours (during previous semester)
- Complete 18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- Complete 40% of declared major
- Have a Texas State GPA of at least 1.90
Entering Seventh Semester (4th Year)
The student-athlete must have declared a major and:
- Be in good academic standing within the university
- Complete *6 hours (during previous semester)
- Complete *18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- Complete 60% of declared major
- Have a Texas State GPA of at least 2.00
Entering Ninth Semester (5th Year)
The student-athlete must have declared a major and:
- Be in good academic standing within the university
- Complete *6 hours (during previous semester)
- Complete *18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- Complete 80% of declared major
- Have a Texas State GPA of at least 2.00
*Beginning with the fifth semester, hours are acceptable only when they are applicable to the student-athlete's declared major.
